Gwadar Authorities Crack Down on Overpricing in Local Markets

Gwadar: Following directives from Assistant Commissioner Mir Jawad Ahmad Zehri, Shakeel Ahmed Baloch, in-charge of the complaint cell, conducted a market inspection to monitor and enforce official pricing guidelines. The operation was part of a broader effort to address public grievances related to overpricing of daily essentials.

According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Balochistan, the inspection targeted vendors of vegetables, fruits, and other necessities to ensure compliance with prices set by the Price Control Committee. The visit uncovered instances of illegal overpricing, with some shopkeepers found selling goods above the official rates, and many failing to display these rates as required. The district administration’s crackdown resulted in the arrest of eight individuals for violations.

The operation underscores the government’s resolve to ensure fair pricing and uphold consumer rights in the marketplace, affirming that deviations from set regulations will not be tolerated.
