Gwadar School Faces Structural and Safety Challenges After Flood Damage

Gwadar: On a special directive from Deputy Commissioner Hamudul Rehman, Tehsildar Chingiz Baloch recently visited Government Primary School in Kahidah Ahmad Mohalla to inspect the conditions following severe flood damage. The school, vital to the community since its establishment in 1987, is now at risk due to structural issues that have led to student dropouts.

According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Balochistan, the in-charge of the school, Ghulam Muhammad, expressed concerns about the safety and integrity of the school building during the visit. The damage, exacerbated by recent flooding, has left the school in a precarious state, with the roof at risk of collapsing. This danger has understandably led to a decrease in student attendance due to fears of landslides. Despite repeated appeals to the education department and other relevant authorities for urgent repairs and maintenance, the response has been lackluster, with no substantial action taken to date.

During his visit, Tehsildar Chingiz Baloch engaged with students and faculty, acknowledging the pressing issues highlighted by the school’s in-charge. He committed to relaying their concerns to higher authorities, stressing the importance of addressing both educational and safety needs promptly. Additionally, he emphasized the need for teachers to focus on both the academic and moral training of students, ensuring a comprehensive educational experience despite the challenging circumstances.

The visit concluded with a photo session, leaving a moment of camaraderie among the students, teachers, and the visiting Tehsildar, yet the urgent need for intervention loomed large, with hopes pinned on forthcoming support from higher authorities to safeguard the future of the students.
