Hanif Announces Special Travel Protocols for Women and PWDs

Islamabad: Minister for Railways Muhammad Hanif Abbasi has announced the implementation of gender-responsive protocols throughout railway stations and trains to provide a safe, dignified, and peaceful travel environment for women passengers.

According to Radio Pakistan, during a meeting chaired by Hanif Abbasi in Islamabad, several key measures were decided upon to enhance the travel experience for women and persons with disabilities (PWDs). The meeting resolved to display awareness posters inside railway stations and trains, complemented by regular announcements and awareness messages broadcast at stations to inform and educate passengers about the new protocols.

Additionally, the meeting concluded that all upcoming refurbished trains would feature designated seating for persons with special abilities. In order to further facilitate their travel with dignity and ease, wheelchairs will be made available at major railway stations. These measures reflect a commitment to ensuring that all passengers, regardless of gender or abilities, can travel with comfort and respect.
