Hindu Mob Sets Fire to Muslim Homes in Bihar Over Interfaith Marriage

Patna: Three houses belonging to Muslim families were set on fire by a Hindu mob in the state of Bihar, India. The incident has heightened concerns over communal tensions in the region.

According to a statement by Kashmir Media Service, the incident took place in the Damdaha area of Purnia district. The mob reportedly torched the houses and looted belongings, allegedly in response to a Muslim man’s marriage to a Hindu woman.

In response to the attack, police from three stations were deployed to the area, and fire brigades were called to extinguish the flames. Authorities have initiated an investigation into the incident and are taking measures to prevent further violence.

On January 8, the Hindu woman involved in the marriage was presented before a court. She testified that she had married the Muslim man willingly and expressed her desire to live with him. The court upheld her decision, allowing the couple to remain together.

According to a resident, this marks the second such incident in the region. Similar attacks on Muslim families have previously been reported, raising alarm over increasing communal tensions in the area.
