Islamabad, 13 Oct 2023: Huawei has unveiled six technical upgrades geared toward advancing to F5.5G, aiming to enhance overall network experience, architecture, and efficiency, according to a press release by Huawei. During the UBBF 2023 at the Green All-Optical Network Summit, Kim Jin, Vice President of Huawei’s Optical Business Product Line, discussed the pivotal role of F5.5G Innovation in stimulating new growth. He emphasized that these enhancements are crucial for aiding operators in expediting the positive business cycle and attaining business success throughout the smooth evolution to F5.5G. Furthermore, Huawei advocates for industry-wide collaboration to facilitate the maturity and application of F5.5G, gradually realizing “10Gbps Everywhere”.
An upgrade from FTTR to FTTR-B expands from households to enterprises, with Huawei FTTR-B extending FTTR to various enterprise scenarios like commercial buildings, medium and small stores, and compact campuses, yielding 2Gbps bandwidth and accommodating 300 concurrent users. This upgrade has been implemented for about 10 million households globally.
Transitioning from premium Wi-Fi to premium broadband, experience monetization is accelerated. After the upgrade, premium broadband institutes precise user awareness based on extensive data analysis and proactively executes O and M. This improves precision marketing capabilities and enhances users’ broadband satisfaction while diminishing the churn rate. The deployment has occurred in over 60 customer networks worldwide.
The enhancement from 10G PON to 50G PON assures a smooth evolution to 10 Gbps experiences. Along with 85 operators, Huawei has deployed over 17 million 10G PON ports, and compared with the industry average, Huawei 50G PON enhances the upstream bandwidth by 20% and lowers the latency from ms-level to us-level, adhering to the QoS requirements of various services.
A new upgrade to Alps-WDM Enhanced accelerates all-service development, improving all-optical switching modules and allowing carriers to stretch OTN to sub CO sites. It meets numerous scenario and service requirements while enhancing live-network reuse and flexible deployment capabilities. This technology has been utilized in more than 50 commercial and test networks around the globe.
Upgrading from 400G to 800G achieves ultra-large capacity and ultra-long-distance backbone network transmission. The Huawei Super 400G/800G solution, developed by enhancing materials, algorithms, and structures, enhances the transmission distance by 20% and diminishes power consumption by 50%. This solution has been deployed on more than 100 networks worldwide.
Upgrading from latency map to SLA assurance accelerates network SLA monetization, and the upgrade uses the optimal path recommendation function to enhance SLA monetization capabilities. It shortens the service TTM to days and achieves higher than 99.999% network reliability, thus improving efficiency and elevating revenue for users.
Based on the previously released eight F5.5G-oriented technological innovations at UBBF 2022, Huawei continues to innovate, presenting these additional six technical upgrades to comprehensively enhance network capabilities and encourage the industry’s stride to F5.5G. Kim Jin conveyed, “In the future, we will continue to develop the optimal solution oriented to F5.5G. We hope to work with global carriers and industry partners to promote the industry development, achieve the vision of OptiX to Everywhere and 10Gbps Everywhere.”
