Islamabad, October 29, 2019 (PPI-OT): The leaders of Hurriyat AJK, Syed Abdullah Gilani, Syed Faiz Naqshbandi and Muhammad Rafiq Dar, have termed India’s action of facilitating the visit of a delegation of European lawmakers as a conspiracy to hoodwink the world into believing that situation is normal in occupied Kashmir.
Syed Abdullah Gilani, Syed Faiz Naqshbandi and Muhammad Rafiq Dar addressing a hurriedly-convened press conference in Islamabad, today, said that occupied Kashmir continued to remain under strict lockdown since 5th of August. They said that over one million troops deployed in occupied Kashmir were engaged in grave human rights violations in the territory.
They said that India had created an environment of fear in occupied Kashmir. “Due to continued curfew, people have been confined to their homes. Economy and fruit orchards have been destroyed. Future of students has been put at stake. The number of deaths has increased due to shortage of life-saving drugs. The life has become a hell for inhabitants,” they added.
The Hurriyat AJK leaders pointed out that during the last 30 years, UN Human Rights Council sought permission from the Indian government for several times to allow its fact-finding missions to visit occupied Kashmir to investigate the human rights violations by Indian troops but the same was denied.
However, they said that under a nefarious plan, India was facilitating the visit of a few selected European lawmakers to the territory – which had been a “No Go Area” for the human rights organizations for the past thirty years. They said that before being allowed to leave for Srinagar, these EU lawmakers belonging to far-right political parties were treated as official guests and were debriefed about the prevailing situation in occupied Kashmir. They said that under a nefarious plan, these lawmakers would be given access to some selected areas under an official protocol.
Syed Abdullah Gilani, Syed Faiz Naqshbandi and Muhammad Rafiq Dar said that after keeping schools and colleges for almost three months, the announcement of examinations for 10th and 12th classes was also part of Indian conspiracy to mislead the visiting EU lawmakers about the prevailing situation in occupied Kashmir.
The Hurriyat AJK leaders said, although this delegation is comprised of the favourite people of India but they urge its members to hold separate meetings with the illegally detained leaders of All Parties Hurriyat Conference, common people, traders, lawyers and members of civil society and labourer federations in a free environment without the presence of Indian officials and present the facts according to their conscience.
