Hurriyat Leaders Call for Self-Determination, Criticize India’s Actions in Kashmir

Srinagar: Hurriyat leaders have reiterated their demand for the right to self-determination for the people of Kashmir, emphasizing that peace in South Asia depends on resolving the Kashmir dispute as per its historical context.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the leaders in Srinagar criticized India’s continued refusal to address the issue, stating that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s August 5, 2019 actions, which revoked Jammu and Kashmir’s special status, violated United Nations resolutions. They argued that India’s stance threatens not only regional stability but global peace as well.

The Hurriyat leadership called on the international community to intervene and ensure the implementation of UN resolutions, which they believe provide a roadmap for resolving the Kashmir issue in line with the aspirations of its people.
