IAEA Approves Safeguards for Chashma Nuclear Plant Unit 5

Vienna: The International Atomic Energy Agency has approved a safeguards agreement for Chashma Nuclear Power Plant, Unit 5.

According to Radio Pakistan, this important development reflects the international community’s continued confidence in Pakistan’s commitment to the peaceful use of nuclear energy and its adherence to global non-proliferation and safeguards obligations.

Unit 5 of the Chashma Nuclear Power Plant is set to have a gross capacity of 1,200 MW. The pressurised water reactor is expected to become operational by 2030.
