Independent website being set up to make details and information on China Pakistan Economic Corridor accessible for public: Minister

Islamabad, April 23, 2015 (PPI-OT): While chairing a meeting on implementation of projects under China Pakistan Economic Corridor today, the Federal Minister for Planning and Development Prof. Ahsan Iqbal said, “Independent website is being set up to make all the detail and information on China Pakistan Economic Corridor CPEC accessible for the public. The visit of Chinese President to Pakistan after nine years has made Pakistan the investment destination for the investors at national and global level and 2015 is the implementation year for CPEC”.

“Each Ministry will come up with a comprehensive plan within five days as to how impending challenges can be overcome and implementation process of CPEC projects can be strategized to ensure effective and timely execution of multiple energy and infrastructure projects. A consolidated and inclusive plan on the road map to implementation of CPEC projects will be presented to Prime Minister to avoid any future discrepancy”, he said while directing the representatives of Federal Ministries and other stakeholder organizations.

Highlighting the importance of project management, he said, “The pyramidal structure of monitoring and evaluation is being created envisaging Prime Minister’s own involvement at the top and project site office at the bottom”. The Joint Working Group on CPEC will be constituted soon to start the consultation process with provinces on industrial parks and economic zones”, he added.

The Federal Minister castigated negative narratives on CPEC emanating from Indian media and some political circles and urged political parties, bureaucracy, civil society and the people of Pakistan to show national coherence on CPEC in order to defeat conspiracy on CPEC in all manifestations. “CPEC is a tree which will bear fruit for whole nation. It is the responsibility of every region and province of Pakistan to keep giving water (ownership) to this tree until it grows into shelter providing relief in the form of plethora of power and regional connectivity”, he added.
