Indian Army Soldier Takes Own Life in Srinagar

Srinagar: An Indian army soldier has died by suicide in Srinagar, within the Indian-administered region of Jammu and Kashmir.

According to a statement by Kashmir Media Service, the soldier, identified as Satyajeet Kandhol, used his service rifle to end his life in the Badami Bagh Cantonment area.

Initial reports indicate that the reasons behind Kandhol’s actions remain unknown. Authorities have initiated an inquiry to understand the circumstances surrounding the incident, a police officer in Srinagar stated.

This incident contributes to an ongoing concern, raising the number of similar deaths among Indian army, police, and paramilitary personnel in the region to 621 since January 2007.
