STEAM Festival in Punjab Showcases Student Innovation and Awards Laptops

Lahore: A grand STEAM Festival, organized by the School Education Department in Punjab, highlighted the region’s commitment to fostering innovation among students. The event, which drew 275,000 participants from across Punjab, culminated in the selection of over 1,100 winners, each of whom will be awarded a laptop, announced Education Minister Rana Sakandar Hayat.

According to a statement by Higher Education Department – Government of The Punjab, the festival was held in collaboration with the FCDO, Global Partnership for Education, UNICEF, and PMIU. It featured 110 selected STEM models, with seven projects shortlisted for cash prizes amounting to PKR 1.4 million. The event also saw participation from more than 14,000 teachers in the STEAM competitions.

Education Minister Rana Sakandar Hayat, who visited the festival, emphasized the importance of STEAM education in keeping abreast of modern advancements. He expressed optimism that the distribution of laptops would enhance students’ creativity and research skills. Additionally, he revealed ongoing efforts to upgrade science and IT labs in public schools with modern facilities.

The festival not only aimed to promote scientific innovation but also sought to engage the community, with parents and relatives attending and appreciating the creative exhibits. Certificates of appreciation were distributed alongside the cash prizes, further acknowledging the students’ efforts. The event concluded with an announcement of upcoming spoken English classes in public schools across Punjab.
