Raipur: Indian forces’ personnel killed around 30 people during a cordon and search operation in the violence-stricken state of Chhattisgarh.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the joint operation involved the Indian Army, paramilitary, and commando forces targeting Naxalites in the Abhujmad and Narayanpur-Dantewada inter-district regions. A senior police official reported that the confrontation occurred in Bastar on Friday.
The Naxalites, who seek independence from Indian control, accused the forces of staging a fake encounter, alleging the deaths were unjustified under the guise of anti-Naxalite activities.
Operations continued in the area with a focus on locating and dismantling further Naxalite activities, as confirmed by the police official.
Earlier, Indian forces had also detained seven Maoists in the Bijapur district as part of ongoing efforts to quell insurgency in the region.
