Indian MP urges India to hold talks with Pakistan on Kashmir

Srinagar, May 16, 2013 (PPI-OT): Member of Indian Parliament from Hyderabad, Asaduddin Owaisi has urged India to initiate dialogue with the upcoming government in Pakistan to resolve the Kashmir dispute. Speaking at a function in Srinagar Owaisi said that he would continue to raise issues like injustice faced by Kashmiris at various forums.

Owaisi, who is also the head of Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM), said, “Since there would be a new democratically-elected government in place in Pakistan, Government of India should initiate a dialogue for the resolution of the Kashmir issue.”

The function was marked by release of a book authored by, A G Noorani, titled- “The Kashmir Dispute- 1947-2012.” The MP termed it as unfortunate that Kashmir resolution was delayed.

He said that not just the Government of India but the people living in all States of the country should understand the need of dialogue between India and Pakistan for Kashmir solution.

Owaisi expressed his dissatisfaction over burying the interlocutors’ report. “Is Government of India going to accept the recommendations of interlocutors? If no, why? Only top leaders in India can reply this question,” he said.

“I will continue to highlight injustices faced by the people of this place,” he said. Beside others, noted author, A G Noorani also addressed the function.
