Indian Policeman Dies in Accidental Rifle Discharge in Poonch

Jammu: A tragic incident occurred in the Poonch district of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir on Monday when a policeman died after his service rifle accidentally discharged. The event has prompted an official investigation into the circumstances surrounding the firearm’s mishap.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the deceased officer, Muhammad Asif, a resident of Surankote, was serving as a personal security officer to a District Development Council member, Sohail Malik, at the time of the accident. Following the incident, Asif’s body was transported to a local hospital to undergo a post-mortem examination.

Local police have formally registered a case to investigate the accidental discharge, seeking to clarify the sequence of events that led to the fatal outcome and to prevent future occurrences of similar incidents.
