Indian troops assisted by drones deployed in volatile Manipur

Guwahati, May 16, 2023 (PPI-OT): The massive deployment of Indian troops backed by drones and sniffer dogs has been made in the volatile Indian state of Manipur to control violence. Manipur is witnessing from specialised drones like quadcopters, Israeli-made Herons to tracker dogs and army’s man-machine animal combination supported by a robust multi-agency intelligence grid, a security blanket never seen before.

The Indian army’s rifle women of Assam Rifles have also been deployed in the villages. The violent ethnic clashes left over 60 dead and thousands displaced in the disturbed state. Indian defence PRO Lt Col M Rawat said over 128 Indian Army and Assam Rifles columns and UAVs have been relentlessly engaged in area. Pertinently, the Manipur people are mostly demanding an independence and free state from Indian hegemony.
