Karachi, August 12, 2016 (PPI-OT):The Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia in Karachi held its annual voluntary blood donation camp event in collaboration with Afzaal Memorial Thalassemia Foundation (AMTF) on Friday, 12th August 2016 in the premises of the Consulate, Shahrah-e-Iran, Clifton, on the occasion of the 71st Anniversary of the Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia.

Speaking at the opening of the camp, Hadi Santoso, Consul General of Indonesia said, “I would like to thank all of the donors for their generosity. Donating blood is a healthy and sensible practice. With many people participating in blood donation we can help secure a sustainable pipeline of blood for children and save the lives of those in need: this is how a company network can ‘create chemistry’ to support an important societal initiative.”

The blood donated would be used for transfusion for children suffering from Thalassemia in Karachi. The Consul General took the opportunity to convey warm greetings to the people of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, who also celebrated their Independence Day on the 14th August, 2016. He extends heartiest felicitations and best wishes to the Government and the people of Pakistan on the independence.
