International Labour Organisation Team Visits EOBI Head Office

Karachi, June 13, 2012 (PPI-OT): International Labour Organization senior social security specialist Mr. Markus Ruck visited the head Office of Employees Old Age Benefits Institution (EOBI) on Wednesday for developing technical assistance programme of EOBI.

Mr Zafar iqbal Gondal briefed the visiting ILO delegation and informed that EOBI is the prime institution providing social protection to the working community of Pakistan. He further stated that to extend the coverage to the entire civilian labour force of the country, training and the capacity building of the employees is very important.

He also informed that EOBI has launched Sahara Insurance Company for life coverage to overseas Pakistanis and to provide medical facility to EOBI pensioners besides providing social protection to freelance journalists of the country.

Mr. Markus appreciated of EOBI initiative of volunteers registration of workers and its efforts to alleviate poverty and provide comforts to the working class of the country.

On Thursday ILO team will visit EOBI’s regional offices to assess the capacity development needs.
