IOK authorities’ apathetic attitude denounced

Srinagar, April 05, 2015 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, senior Hurriyet leader Shabbir Ahmad Shah has denounced the authorities for showing apathy towards the sufferings of the people, adversely hit by torrential rains in the territory. Shabbir Ahmad Shah in a media interview in Srinagar, today, said that people were facing shortage of commodities due to the closure of Jammu-Srinagar highway and other road links. He said that the prices of food items had also gone high due to the suspension of supply. Meanwhile, the 300-kilo meter highway remained closed for the fifth consecutive day, today, due to landslides at various places.

The continuous closure of the only surface link connecting the Kashmir Valley with rest of the world has left hundreds of stranded passengers in utter frustration with no help coming from the puppet administration. APHC leader, Zafar Akbar Butt visited several areas of Srinagar located on the banks of Dal Lake, which suffered heavy damages due to floods. He distributed edibles among the affected people. Earlier, the residents staged a demonstration in Srinagar to protest against the authorities’ failure to take steps for bringing down the water level in the lake.

The Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front in a statement paid glowing tributes to Sajjad Ahmad Shah on his martyrdom anniversary. The party said that the martyr was among early youth who fought for the dignity and freedom of Kashmir and laid down his life for the sacred cause. A condolence meeting was organized at the Democratic Freedom Party office in Srinagar wherein special prayers were held for a party leader, Muhammad Shafi Rangrez, who passed away in Jammu, today.
