Zafar Butt visits flood-hit areas, distributes relief

Srinagar, April 05, 2015 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, APHC leader and the Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Salvation Movement (JKSM) Chairman, Zafar Akbar Butt, today, visited several areas of Srinagar located on the banks of Dal Lake which suffered heavy damages due to floods and distributed edibles among the affected people.

Zafar Akbar Butt on the occasion slammed the authorities for their failure to provide any kind of relief to the flood victims. He said the tall claims of the authorities stand exposed as the areas still face water lodging problem and have no road connectivity with Srinagar city.

Zaffer said the water lodging hasn’t only cut-off the areas but is posing a serious threat to the environment. He said that deadly diseases could outbreak in the areas if the authorities couldn’t prioritize dewatering. He said that people of Kashmir voted the pro-India politicians to power but they had forget the people and were enjoying their lives in cosy corridors.

He asked the pro-India politicians to shun the arrogant attitude and chalk out a strategy for saving Kashmir from the flood threats by constructing a flood channel which is need of the hour according to the experts who have predicted climate change-related floods in the valley.

Bhat also expressed concern over the closure of Srinagar-Jammu highway and asked Pakistan and India to reopen alternative routes linking Kashmir with rest of the world on humanitarian grounds. Several party leaders including women’s wing secretary, Ruqiya Baji, Abdul Qayoom, Aijaz Kashmiri, Imtiyaz Ahmad and Hilal Ahmad were also present on the occasion.
