Islamabad Clarifies Role of Deceased Engineers Amidst IPP Negotiations

Islamabad: The Finance Division has issued a clarification concerning recent media reports about two Chinese engineers who were killed in an explosion in Karachi. The reports had suggested a connection between the deceased and ongoing negotiations with Independent Power Producers (IPPs).

According to Press Information Department, the Finance Division explicitly stated that while the government is indeed in talks with IPPs, including the power plant where the two Chinese engineers were employed, the engineers themselves were not involved in these discussions. The Division emphasized that any media portrayal linking the engineers directly to the IPP talks is inaccurate and baseless.

This clarification comes at a critical time as the government seeks to maintain transparency and accuracy in its communications regarding the sensitive issue of energy negotiations and the safety of foreign nationals working in Pakistan.
