Twelfth Session of the Governing Council (GC) of the Asian and Pacific Centre for Transfer of Technology (APCTT) will be held from 19th to 21st December, 2016 in Islamabad, Pakistan. As an agenda of the GC an International Conference is also being organized to discuss the role of Public policies in facilitating innovation and effective partnerships for sustainable development as well as to exchange best international practices and strategies for encouraging innovation and facilitating technology transfer. Rana Tanveer Hussain, Federal Minister for Science and Technology will inaugurate the GC and the International Conference on Innovation Strategies for Sustainable Development, while the Under Secretary General and Executive Secretary/UN-ESCAP, Dr. Shamshad Akhtar, will deliver a key Note address on 19th December, 2016.
It is pertinent to mention here that APCTT is a specialized regional Institute of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and Pacific (UN-ESCAP), based in New Delhi India, to assist members states through strengthening their capabilities to develop and manage their National Innovation Systems focusing on strengthening Technology driven sustainable development. The Governing Council comprising of 14 members States: Bangladesh, China, Fiji, India, Indonesia, Islamic Republic of Iran, Malaysia, Pakistan, Philippines, Republic of Korea, Samoa, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Viet Nam. Foreign delegations from these countries as well as local participants from Pakistan participating in GC will share their activities being undertaken in their countries in the field of Science, Technology and Innovation with each other during the 3 days Session of APCTT.
Ministry of Science and Technology, the focal point in Pakistan for APCTT, arranges participations in activities by relevant expert/scientists from MoST and R&D Organizations of the Ministry of Science and Technology.
