Islamabad Thwarts Major Terrorist Threat with Timely Intervention

Islamabad: In what could have been a catastrophic event, Islamabad’s vigilant police force successfully averted a significant disaster through a prompt and coordinated response. During a routine search operation in Sangjani, a suburb of the capital, police discovered and neutralized explosive materials that posed a severe threat to public safety.

According to Islamabad Capital Police announcement issued on 08 September 2024, the recovery of a suspicious bag containing weapons of mass destruction, hand grenades, detonators, and other explosives led to an immediate high alert status across the city. The Bomb Disposal Squad was quick to diffuse the potential explosives, thereby preventing possible devastation.

The operation also led to the arrest of a highly suspicious individual at the scene, whose identity is being used to further extensive search operations. This proactive measure by the police has initiated a series of actions aimed at tightening security across Islamabad. Security personnel have been deployed in greater numbers, and checks have been intensified at all city access points to manage the heightened threat level.

The police have called on citizens to remain vigilant and cooperative during security checks and to report any unusual activity through the “Pucar-15” or “ICT-15” emergency services apps. This incident underscores the ongoing risks faced by major cities and the critical role that swift police action plays in maintaining public safety.
