Israeli Forces Detain 18 Palestinians in West Bank Raids

Israeli forces Tuesday detained 18 Palestinians, including a girl, during overnight raids across the West Bank, said security sources and Palestine Prisoner’s Society.

Seven Palestinians were detained from Jerusalem, four others from Hebron, five others from Tulkarem and two others from Bethlehem.

Israeli police leading tracking dogs raided Shufat refugee camp, detaining six Palestinians after ransacking and wreaking havoc into many houses.

Three of the detainees were identified as Abdullah Alqam, an elderly, Ramzi Ali and Loai Adarba from the neighboring al-Ras neighborhood.

Also in Jerusalem district, police detained an unidentified Palestinian young man during an overnight raid into Hizma town, northeast of Jerusalem.

In Hebron district, Israeli forces raided Surif town, northwest of the city, handcuffing and detaining Ahmad Abu-Fara and Marwan al-Hih after storming their houses.

Locals told WAFA troops surrounded and opened fire at the family house of Abu-Farah, ordering him to surrender.

They also detained Musab Shalalda, 30, after storming several houses in an overnight raid into Sair town, northeast of Hebron.

Another Palestinian, identified as Walaa al-Mahariq, 18, was detained purportedly for possessing a knife near the Gush Etzion settlement bloc.

Al-Mahariq, a girl, reportedly comes from As-Samu’ town and resides in the Hebron neighborhood of Jabal Abu Rumman.

In the Hebron town of Dura, forces raided the family houses of Muhammad al-Faqih and Muhammad Baryush, who is held in Israeli custody.

Al-Faqih was killed by Israeli forces after bombarding and razing the house he was fortified in during a raid into the Hebron town of Surif on July 27, 2016.

He was killed for being purportedly responsible for an attack that killed an Israeli settler in a drive-by shooting in Hebron district on July 1, 2016.

Forces also detained Ayman Tbeish from the Hebron town of Dura after he turned himself to intelligence in the Gush Etzion detention and interrogation center.

Meanwhile, forces raided Far’oun town, northeast of Tulkarem, storming and ransacking several houses and detaining four Palestinians.

The detainees were identified as Ahmad Obeid, 31, his brother, Hamza, 24, Muhammad Ayesh, 22, and Shadi Itheimer, 27.

Forces also raided Anabta town, east of Tulkarem, handcuffing and detaining Mahmoud Abu al-Asal, 34, after ransacking his house.

In the southern West Bank district of Bethlehem, forces detained Bader Abu-Galghif, 20, after storming and ransacking his house in al-Ebayyat locality, east the Bethlehem city.

They also detained Abdul-Halim Najajra, 22, during an overnight raid into Nahhalin village, west of Bethlehem.
