Junaid Advocates for Ocean Awareness in National Education

Islamabad: Minister for Maritime Affairs Muhammad Junaid Anwar Chaudhry has emphasized the need to integrate ocean awareness into formal education systems while focusing on empowering youth to actively participate in the preservation of marine ecosystems. This statement was made during a meeting with the Minister of State for Education and Professional Training, Wajiha Qamar.

According to Radio Pakistan, the ministers discussed various strategies aimed at enhancing marine education, literacy, and youth engagement in sustainable ocean management. The Maritime Minister announced significant reforms in maritime education, such as granting degree-awarding status to the Pakistan Marine Academy. He also revealed the establishment of the Maritime Educational Endowment Fund, which aims to provide scholarships to deserving children from coastal communities.

Wajiha Qamar highlighted the importance of incorporating marine science and ocean literacy into the educational curricula, stating that it could help students connect local challenges with global trends.
