Junaid Anwar Launches Climate-Resilient Healthcare Infrastructure at Major Ports

Islamabad: Minister for Maritime Affairs Junaid Anwar Chaudhry has launched a climate-resilient transformation of healthcare infrastructure at major ports of the country.

According to Radio Pakistan, during a meeting chaired in Islamabad, the Minister announced the launch of a nationwide baseline assessment of the Karachi Port Trust Hospital, Port Qasim Medical Center, and Gwadar Port Hospital. The initiative aims to integrate climate adaptation into maritime healthcare services.

The Minister emphasized the development of a comprehensive digital health roadmap. This roadmap is designed to enhance emergency preparedness for climate-induced disasters and ensure equitable medical services for vulnerable maritime and port communities.

The first phase of the roadmap will focus on targeted upgrades at the KPT, Port Qasim, and Gwadar hospitals. These upgrades aim to address critical gaps in trauma response and mental health care services.

Junaid Anwar Chaudhry stressed that the health and resilience of the maritime workforce are crucial for sustaining trade and national growth in the face of climate challenges.
