Karachi Electric Supply Company signs deal with General Electric International Inc. for maintenance of gas turbines

Karachi, March 21, 2013 (PPI-OT): Karachi Electric Supply Company has signed a long term service agreement with General Electric International Inc. for maintenance of the gas turbines of its newly commissioned prime project, 560-MWs Bin Qasim Power Station-II.

KESC originally purchased the three gas turbines from GE France for the most efficient and latest plant of its power generation fleet and has executed the service agreement to ensure the plant’s reliability at optimum level. The agreement envisages a service term of around five years, and covers all planned and unplanned maintenance needs, online monitoring, technical support, spares availability, operation and maintenance training.

BQPS-II is a combined cycle power plant comprising of three gas turbines and one steam turbine. The complex started producing electricity in April, 2012. KESC invited bids from world renowned service providers for heavy machines. Series of meetings were held on the technical, legal and commercial aspects before finalizing the contract.
