Karachi, May 20, 2013 (PPI-OT): KMC Administrator Syed Hashim Raza Zaidi has directed all chief engineers not to assign any consultant especially for upcoming developmental projects and consultancy works should be performed by KMC and KDA Engineers themselves and social sector along with construction of roads and bridges should be concentrated.
The schemes in Education, Health and Municipal Services sectors should be completed speedily and new schemes should be prepared so that common people could be provided with more facilities. He said this while addressing a meeting of KMC and Defunct KDA Chief Engineers. On this occasion Director General Technical Services Niaz Soomro, chief engineers of all districts and projects chief engineers were present.
Administrator Karachi directed to use funds in all KMC projects fairly. Chief Engineers should prepare PC-1 along with all works regarding civil and electrical engineering themselves and quality control and inspection works would also be done by chief engineers. He directed not to get works done in advance and nor issue any work order with out approval in advance.
This clause should also be included while making next agreement with any contractor that they would take construction material from KMC Asphalt Plant. KMC Asphalt Plant on Superhighway should be reinstated so that it could be used for construction works.
Administrator Karachi directed chief engineers to make arrangements to put all heavy machinery in fine condition used in construction sector and irreparable machinery following rules and regulations should be auctioned.
He directed engineers to pay attention to social sectors and make new schemes along with speedy completion of existing schemes in this sector specially education, health and municipal services works should be expanded. Government of Sindh has funds for social sector schemes and agrees to give it to KMC.
On this occasion KMC and defunct KDA chief engineers gave a briefing about ongoing development schemes in their districts on which Administrator Karachi considering monsoon rains directed to carry out construction works of 18 big nullahs of city on preferential basis and complete Mehran Highway Phase-II which was important for development of industrial area.
He said it was first priority to pay salaries and pensions of employees after which social sector projects would be completed which would be in favour of citizens. Chief Engineers during meeting informed Administrator Karachi about Faizi Rehmeen Art Gallery and Auditorium, Shahabuddin Market and Parking Plaza, Shahrah-e-Noor Jehan, District ADP schemes, different schemes of health sector and other projects.
Administrator Karachi Syed Hashim Raza Zaidi directed to prepare scheme for construction of Phase-II of Shahrah-e-Noor Jehan so that negotiation with Government of Sindh for funding of these projects could be carried out.
