Karachi Metropolitan Corporation Administrator addresses meeting on monsoon arrangements

Karachi, June 19, 2013 (PPI-OT): KMC Administrator Syed Hashim Raza Zaidi has said that all departments on the occasion of monsoon rains should be in contact with full cooperation and prepare mutual strategy which could produce better results.

Cleanliness of drainage ways should be ensured before monsoon rains. Rain Emergency centers in KMC Engineering Department have been established to deal with challenges of monsoon rains which would be in contact with central control room 1339 whereas focal persons in different districts have been deployed who would be in contact with concerned DMCs in their jurisdiction and monitor all works.

Citizens could contact with them in case of any emergency during rains. He said this while addressing a meeting in his office which was called for making up strategy with reference to monsoon rains in which officers of Municipal Services Department and other concerned departments were present.

Administrator Karachi Syed Hashim Raza Zaidi said that all officers of DMCs should concentrate on water drainage works and cleanliness of small and big nullahs. All departments which provide basic facilities should be in contact under Command and Control System whereas Command and Control 1339 was working 24 hours for providing citizens with facilities and KESC and KWSB representatives were also present here.

He directed that Municipal Commissioners and Chief Engineers of all Districts should be in contact with relevant staff. He also directed Municipal Services Department to enhance speed of cleanliness works of big nullahs and utilize all available resources for this purpose whereas cleanliness of small drains was responsibility of district administrations therefore all DMCs should complete cleanliness works on emergency basis.
