Karachi Metropolitan Corporation officers to get Circular Railways training in Japan

Karachi, February 12, 2013 (PPI-OT): 1st proper permission for releasing funds in July for construction works of Circular Railway in Karachi has been given by JICA and circular railway works would start practically. Administrator Karachi Muhammad Hussain Syed said this during a meeting with Director General Mass Transit M. C. Rasheed Mughal, Director Planning and Coordination Mirza Anwar Baig and other officers who were departing for Japan for Urban Railway Development and Operation Management Training Program.

The officers would gain circular railway technical, operational and other trainings from 13th to 17th February 2013 in Japan whereas experts would give lectures in the beginning of circular railway and along with KMC officers Planning and Development Department Government of Sindh Mehtab-ul-Haq, Economic Affairs Division Government of Pakistan Chief D.N.C Muneer Anjum, Coordinator of Karachi Urban Transport Corporation Fateh Shaikh Talib, Anjum Muneer D.S Railway and other officers from different departments were also included in this special training program.

In this connection Administrator Karachi Muhammad Hussain Syed visited Japan last week and had a detailed discussion with JICA authorities in this regard. Officers would be given practical training of circular railway system in Japan and provided with important information about Railway Base Mass Transit Program in this connection meetings with Japan circular railway experts would be held.

Administrator Karachi directed officers and said that Circular Railway was an important project for Karachi which would improve traveling facilities for citizens and works for circular railway had to be started this year. He said citizens were facing problems due to shortage of transport in Karachi and KMC was aware about this and Karachi circular railway would resolve these problems.

He said expenditures of Mass Transit System Financial Management Operation, designs of projects, administrative structure, depots on various locations, stations and along with central operation center other matters had been finalized and for more progress officers were being sent for training.

He also said circular railway project would start in the beginning of July whereas Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) would be completed before this and Completion of Circular Railway would facilitate almost 7 Lac passengers on daily basis.
