Karra Urges Release of Detained Leaders and Calls for Dialogue on Katra Ropeway Issue

Jammu: Congress President Tariq Hameed Karra has criticized the authorities in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir for their handling of the Katra protests concerning the contentious ropeway project. He has called for the release of detained leaders and advocated for dialogue to address the situation.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Karra, speaking to the media in Jammu, emphasized the need to release detained leaders to create a suitable environment for discussions. Accompanied by senior Congress figures, Karra pointed out the poor treatment and indefinite detention of local leaders, which he believes obstructs efforts for a peaceful resolution.

In an implicit critique of Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Karra questioned why Congress representatives, despite being part of the coalition government, are restricted from accessing Katra, while BJP leaders can. He also noted concerns about the impact of the shutdown on local livelihoods and pilgrim services.
