Kashmir settlement imperative for regional peace: DFP

Srinagar, February 17, 2018 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) has said that settlement of the Kashmir dispute is imperative for peace and development in the region. The DFP General Secretary, Muhammad Abdullah Tari in a statement in Srinagar said that hostility had to be avoided if New Delhi was interested in resolving the dispute. He maintained that the Kashmiri people are peace-loving and the stability of the entire region is linked to peace in Kashmir.

He urged New Delhi to change its stance on Kashmir so that an atmosphere is created which can lead to prosperity. He said that jailing political leaders like Shabbir Ahmed Shah had yielded nothing in the past and it was sure to prove failure even in future.

Meanwhile, the spokesman of Tehreek-e-Muzahamat, Shabbir Ahmed Zargar, in a statement in Srinagar condemned the house arrest of party Chairman, Bilal Siddiqui. He said curbs and restrictions on the movement of Hurriyat leaders and activists every now and then speak volumes about the frustration of the puppet authorities.
