Kashmiri Activist Assaulted in London by Alleged Hindutva Supporters

London: Muzzammil Ayyub Thakur, a prominent Kashmiri activist based in London, was reportedly attacked by individuals he described as Hindutva supporters after a Kashmir-related event in the city.

According to Kashmir Media Service announcement issued on 16 August 2024, Thakur recounted the assault, stating that as he was returning from the event and entering his car, several individuals followed him, attempted to strike him on the head, and physically assaulted him. During the confrontation, the assailants accused him of being a “Muslim and a Kashmiri terrorist” and shouted pro-India slogans.

Thakur identified the attackers as Hindutva goons, alleging that their intent was to intimidate him and obstruct his activism for the Kashmir cause. This incident has raised concerns about the safety of diaspora activists and the reach of international political conflicts into communities abroad.
