Kashmiri Shawl Seller Attacked in Punjab, Goods and Cash Stolen

Chandigarh: A group of miscreants attacked a Kashmiri shawl seller in the Punjab state of India, looting his goods and cash.

According to a statement by Kashmir Media Service, the incident occurred in Kapurthala district, where the victim, identified as Fareed Ahmad Bajad from Kralpora, Kupwara, was severely beaten and dragged by the attackers. The assailants made off with shawls worth lakhs and cash.

SSP Kapurthala, Goru Tora, confirmed that a First Information Report (FIR) has been registered in the case. Authorities have assured that strict action will be taken against the perpetrators.

This marks the seventh attack on Kashmiri traders in the last 45 days, indicating a troubling increase in violence against them in Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, and Haryana. The repeated targeting has instilled fear and insecurity among Kashmiri traders, threatening their livelihoods.
