Kashmiri Women Acknowledged as Key Figures in Freedom Movement

Muzaffarabad: A seminar titled “The Role of the Kashmir Women: The Future Perspective” was recently held in Muzaffarabad, highlighting the significant contributions of women in the ongoing Kashmir freedom movement. The event was organized by the Institute of the Dialogue, Development and Diplomatic Studies in collaboration with the Post Graduate Degree College, Leepa.

According to Kashmir Media Service, a large number of women from Leepa Valley participated in the seminar. Malik Zaffar, Principal of the Postgraduate Degree College, underscored the sacrifices made by the women of Leepa Valley in the struggle for Kashmir’s freedom. He remarked on the women’s understanding of the difference between freedom and slavery, emphasizing their commitment to proving their worth through education.

Speakers at the seminar, including Prof Faizur Rehaman and Dr Naveed Qurishi, paid tribute to the resilience and leadership of Kashmiri women, particularly those in Indian custody. They highlighted the critical role these women play in a region plagued by geopolitical tensions, advocating for peace and freedom.

Prof. Rakhshanda stressed the importance of Kashmiri women’s stories as a testament to their strength and vision, serving as role models for women across borders. Dr Waleed called for innovative strategies in the movement for self-determination, emphasizing the role of academia and research in advancing the cause.
