Kashmiris to Observe Black Day on Monday to Protest Indian Occupation

Islamabad: Kashmiris on both sides of the Line of Control and worldwide will observe Black Day on Monday to send a powerful message to India and the international community that they reject New Delhi’s occupation of their homeland.

According to Radio Pakistan, the call for the observance of Black Day has been given by the All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) and is supported by various organizations. Posters displayed by the APHC and other pro-freedom groups describe October 27, 1947, as the darkest chapter in the history of Jammu and Kashmir. It was on this day in 1947 that Indian troops invaded Jammu and Kashmir in violation of the Partition Plan and occupied the region against the will of the Kashmiri people.

In a special message issued from Srinagar, APHC Vice Chairman Ghulam Ahmed Gulzar stated that Kashmiris will never accept the illegal occupation and will continue to observe this day as Black Day until they achieve freedom from Indian rule. He called on people across Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, and Azad Jammu and Kashmir to mark the day with rallies, demonstrations, and other programs to draw international attention to the unresolved issue under the UN Charter.

Meanwhile, Senior APHC leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, addressing a public gathering in the Charar-e-Sharief area of Budgam district, emphasized that peace can never be established through oppression and force. He stressed that the path to lasting peace and stability can only be paved through mutual respect, justice, and dialogue.
