Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Government takes notice of repeated appearance of statements in media regarding textbook of English for Class-9

Peshawar, April 12, 2013 (PPI-OT): The Provincial Government has taken serious notice of the repeated appearance of statements in media regarding textbook of English for Class-9. Spokesman Textbook Board Peshawar on Thursday has clarified that the textbook of English was written strictly in accordance with the National Curriculum of English-2006.

This curriculum was developed and introduced in 2006. All the Provincial Governments and the Federal Government had agreed on its implementations. He said the allegation that the lessons regarding Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) and Hazrat Umar (RA) have been deleted is absolutely false as the new book contains two lessons; one “The Madina Charter” and the other “The Two Bargains” which deals with sublime characters of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) and Hazrat Usman (RA).

However the Provincial Govt., on the demand of some religious parties stopped introduction of the book for the academic session 2012 and directed the Board to include lessons regarding Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) and Hazrat Umar (RA) in the textbook of English for class-X and after the said book is prepared, then introduce both the new textbooks of English for class-IX and X for the academic session 2013-14. Now, the Textbook Board has prepared textbook of English for class-X and after approval, the Govt. has introduced both the new textbooks of English for class-IX and X.

These books include lessons on Hazrat Mohammad (PBUH), Hazrat Umar (RA) and Hazrat Usman (RA) besides several other Islamic subjects. There is no propagation of any other religion and nothing un-Islamic in these books, he concluded.
