Kohat Peace Accord Driving Peace in Kurram District

Kohat: The Kohat Peace Accord is playing a key role in establishing durable peace in Kurram district.

According to Radio Pakistan, tribal elders belonging to Lower Kurram attended the Kohat Peace Accord at the invitation of the notables of Parachinar held on 11th of this month.

The tribal elders of the joint Jirga expressed their collective resolve for establishing durable peace. Nearly one thousand bunkers have been dismantled across the district as a result of the peace accord. Similarly, nearly five hundred fifty weapons have been returned under the voluntary disarmament initiative.

A special security force has been raised to promote trade and ensure free mobility at Thall-Parachinar Road, while one hundred twenty security posts were established to protect it from miscreants. Likewise, professional training was also imparted for capacity building and enhancing the performance of Kurram Police and special security forces.

Moreover, completion of several projects including solarization and street lights was ensured besides construction of sports grounds for the youth of the area. Additionally, one hundred and twenty shops were constructed at Bagan bazaar and were handed over to the owners.

The local population of Kurram, in collaboration with the tribal elders and the administration, is effectively working to foil the nefarious designs of the miscreants, while efforts are also afoot for establishing durable peace and stability in Kurram.
