Lahore: During a recent meeting at the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), President Mian Abuzar Shad emphasized the need for enhanced cooperation between the government and the business sector to foster economic development in Pakistan. The session, attended by key governmental figures, highlighted the challenges faced by traders, including unwarranted legal actions that hamper their operations and overall economic contributions.
According to Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the discussion brought together LCCI President Mian Abuzar Shad, Additional Secretary of Punjab Home Department Uzma Saleem, Senior Superintendent of Police Usman Bajwa, and other officials. The meeting focused on creating a more collaborative environment where business and government can openly discuss and implement growth-friendly policies. Mian Abuzar Shad pointed out the detrimental impact of minor legal entanglements, such as the registration of dengue-related cases, on business activities. “If institutions do not cooperate, where will traders go?” he questioned, emphasizing the importance of supportive governance to facilitate economic progress.
Senior Superintendent Usman Bajwa acknowledged the concerns raised by the LCCI President and expressed his intent to review the policies on registering FIRs over dengue larvae. He highlighted the positive developments under the current government’s leadership and reiterated the commitment to improving governance and security measures, including increased protection for Chinese nationals and encouragement for businesses to invest in security resources like bulletproof vehicles.
Mian Abuzar Shad further advocated for the government to permit the duty-free import of bulletproof vehicles by the private sector and stressed the importance of adopting advanced technologies such as Artificial Intelligence to maintain competitive advantage globally. He affirmed the LCCI’s dedication to working towards economic growth and enhancing security and governance to ensure a conducive business environment.
