Landslide in Malakand Disrupts Power Station, Damages Homes and Mosque

Malakand: A significant landslide on August 24, 2024, at the Malakand 03 Power Station canal has caused substantial disruptions, leading to the destruction of several homes and a mosque in the region.

According to Provincial Disaster Management Authority, the landslide blocked the canal’s flow, causing water levels to rise dramatically. This sudden surge resulted in the destruction of 13 structures, with seven houses completely destroyed and six others partially damaged. The local mosque was also significantly impacted.

Responding swiftly to the crisis, the District Administration, Rescue 1122, the Tehsil Municipal Officer, irrigation staff, and Malakand Levies coordinated relief efforts at the site. Affected families received immediate relief assistance to mitigate the impact of the disaster.
