Karachi, July 15, 2013 (PPI-OT): Newly Elected Member of National Assembly Khuwaja Suhail Mansoor and Member of Provincial Assembly Abdul Haseeb Khan has stated that Baldia, Sher Shah, Pak Colony, Keemari, Muhammadi Road area must be provided with ample water supply. We can share water in case of shortage but cannot ignore unfair supply of water. They said that KW and SB officers must ensure swift supply in these areas.
They said that KW and SB must formulate a strategy to ensure swift supply to Baldia, Shershah, Pak Colony, Orangi, Keemari and adjoining areas. Tail-end residents must be given special attention when providing water.
They were speaking to a meeting with Managing Director Karachi Water and Sewerage Board Misbahuddin Farid, Deputy Managing Director Technical Services, Chief Engineers, Deputy Chief Engineers, Executive Engineers, Assistant Executive Engineers and other concerned KW and SB officers.
During the meeting elected representatives stressed that KW and SB officers and staff must ensure that they fulfil their religious, moral and professional duties with honesty. They said that some KW and SB officers are neglecting their duties and have not been acting on the directives issued during meetings or M.D KW and SB’s visits to the area. They said that it is vital that the residents of these areas receive fair supply and problems in this regard are resolved.
M.D KW and SB Misbahuddin Farid directed DMD TS to ensure that problems pointed out by Elected Representatives are resolved in a swift manner and all technical issues must be solved. Bulk Water Supply must be rescheduled and see to it that all areas get fair supply through Bulk system to ensure fair supply to all areas during Ramadan.
M.D KW and SB also approved work pending including intersection work in order to ensure fair supply. One of the major pending works was replacement of 160 feet pipeline to change the angle of 48inch diameter line. All work approved is to be completed within Ramadan to overcome water shortage in these areas.
M.D KW and SB taking notice of negligence by KW and SB officers transferred XEN Abdul Qayyum and warned S.E Usman Khaskheli and Sub Engineer M. Arif that if they display negligence not only their salaries would be stopped but they would be suspended as well.
Speaking to DMD TS and Chief Engineers he said that directives have already been issued that all engineers and officers must include field visits in their daily routine. Coordinating with Elected Representatives and area residents they must ensure that all public complaints are resolved.
He directed them to inform elected representative of the area about their visits and all problems must be discussed with DMD TS or M.D KW and SB if needed, in order to ensure that complaint are resolved in a timely manner.
