Local Administration to facilitate Business Community for promotion of business activities – Tariq Mehmood Pirzada

Islamabad: Local Administration is working on many projects to facilitate the business community so that they could smoothly promote business activities and strengthen the economy.

This was stated by Tariq Mehmood Pirzada, Chief Commissioner Islamabad while addressing the businessmen at Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry. He said that businessmen and investors need a secure environment and local administration would take all necessary measures to improve law and order situation.

Chief Commissioner said that there was no doubt that citizens were facing problems due to pickets and barriers but these were necessary to ensure tight security. He emphasized on reviving the reconciliation committee with the consultation of stakeholders and said that regular interaction between the business community and local administration was much needed to make the system more efficient.

He said that they are considering to appoint the motor vehicle examiner from the private sector, who would issue fitness certificate in a transparent way. Tariq Mehmood Pirzada also assured full support to business community in execution of Balanced Rent Control Act and shifting of lawyer offices and courts from F-8 Markaz to any other suitable place.

In his welcome address, Yassar Sakhi Butt, President, Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry highlighted the problems of business community and said that coordination among the business community and administration as well as the police force is vital for smooth functioning of the system which eventually results in creating a healthy society.

ICCI President called for removing of unnecessary pickets and barriers, revision of shop security act, appointment of a professional as motor vehicle examiner, issuance of Disaster Management notices to local industrialists, shifting of courts from F-8 Markaz and early execution of balanced rent control act. He also proposed that Chairman of Police Liaison Sub-Committee of ICCI should be given the status of Honorary Magistrate.

Yassar Sakhi Butt suggested that police departments should have the latest technology to cope with security challenges because we are passing through a phase of time in which security has become an important issue and especially in the Capital city it has to be handled even more professionally.
