Karachi, September 26, 2012 (PPI-OT): The Lyari Development Authority has started work on widening of 7.89 Kilometer main Hawksbay Road which will help facilitate inhabitant living in the area as well as reduce traffic congestions for picnic goers heading to Hawksbay and Sandspit beaches.
The Director General Lyari Development Authority Agha Maqsood Abbas has reviewed the different infrastructure development works having carried out in the Hawksbay Scheme 42 at a high level meeting held here at his office which was attended by the senior engineers and officers of the authority.
Under the scheme, total reservation of Main Hawksbay Road is 300 feet and existing 48 feet wide dual carriage way will be turned to 96 feet wide dual carriage way.
The meeting was informed that on completion of this widening and improvement of main Hawksbay Road, the people visiting Sandspit and Paradise Point and living in and around Hawksbay will have modern road facilities thereby reducing the travelling period from city to Hawksbay Scheme.
The sewerage work on 140 kilometer has already been completed while the wok on 6.25 kilometre is in progress, the meeting told. Besides, out of 15 culverts, 14 have been completed and the work on remaining one culvert is going on.
The meeting was informed that infrastructure work of 15.33 kilometre Storm Water Drains has been completed while on remaining 1.75 kilometre will be completed shortly.
The Director General Agha Maqsood Abbas has urged the engineers that they should adopt all possible measures to speed up all the infrastructure development works and ensure the quality of work according to international standards.
