Madhya Pradesh to Equip BSF with US-Made Guns for Bangladesh Border Security

Bhopal: The government of Madhya Pradesh has declared its intention to provide 700 US-manufactured pump action guns to the Border Security Force (BSF) to bolster security efforts along the International Border with Bangladesh.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the transfer of these firearms, which are currently utilized by the state’s Forest Department to combat poaching and illegal logging, was confirmed by PK Singh, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Protection) for Madhya Pradesh. “We will give 700 pump action guns from our armoury to the BSF,” Singh remarked, noting that the state responded to a request from the Indian Home Ministry aimed at enhancing border security.

The 12-gauge, single-barrel guns were originally imported from Maverick Arms Inc. in the United States in 2008. This move reflects ongoing efforts to secure the extensive 4,096-km border India shares with Bangladesh, a boundary that also passes through West Bengal, Assam, Tripura, Mizoram, and Meghalaya.
