Managing Director Karachi Water and Sewerage Board along with Deputy Managing Director Technical Service’s visit different areas of Karachi to inspect the situation after the record heavy rain in Karachi

Karachi, August 07, 2013 (PPI-OT): Managing Director Karachi Water and Sewerage Board Misbahuddin Farid along with Deputy Managing Director Technical Services visited North Karachi, Nazimabad, North Nazimabad, Orangi, Baldia, Shah-Faisal, Gulistan-e-Jauhar and other areas to inspect the situation after the record heavy rain in Karachi.

During the visit he inspected sewerage operations and sewerage pumping station performance. He expressed atonement that KESC fully cooperated with KW and SB and no major break downs were reported at any major pumping stations during the rain which helped KW and SB to ensure sewage of rain water from KW and SB sewerage lines. All Chief Engineers and other concerned officers were also present on this occasion.

M.D KW and SB directed officers at the pumping stations to stay vigilant in order to fight any situation that may rise and ensure that KW and SB sewerage operations run smoothly. Later on, he also visited Saddar, Clifton, Guslhan-e-Iqbal, Jail Chorangi, Hassan Square, Pak Colony, Tower and adjoining areas.

On this occasion Deputy Managing Director TS praised KW and SB staff and officers who through their hard work ensured sewerage flow during water supply and directed them to pay special attention to KW and SB sewerage system since sand and garbage enters KW and SB sewerage lines after rain therefore, special attention towards cleaning of these lines is necessary. He directed that open or broken man-holes in all areas must be covered.

DMD TS further directed that all KW and SB Machinery and Extra Man Power to complete cleaning of sewerage lines as soon as possible. He said that Sewerage Department is responsible to keep the operations smooth and systems running therefore they must formulate a strategy to provide swift services. He also hoped that KESC would continue cooperation with KW and SB to ensure that Water and Sewerage Systems work properly and citizens don’t face any problems.
