Managing Director Karachi Water Sewerage Board visits 23 kilometre long 36 inch diameter supply line

Karachi, May 06, 2013 (PPI-OT): Managing Director Karachi Water and Sewerage Board Misbahuddin Farid visited the 23 kilometre long 36 inch diameter supply line. The line would cost 1.1 billion rupees, whereas, M.D KW and SB directed that the work must be completed by 30th May to ensure swift provision of water to the citizens. Deputy Managing Director T and S Iftikhar Ahmed Khan, Chief Engineer WTM, Chief Engineer, Imran Asif, Chief Engineer Landhi and other concerned officers were also present with him on this occasion.

He said that this project is vital to ensure swift provision of water to the tail end consumers in Malir, Saudabad and adjoining areas therefore completion of work by 30th May must be ensured. With the completion of this project residents of Landhi and Korangi would also benefit especially the tail end consumers.

Chief Engineer Saleem Siddiqui is looking over the project to be completed with the cost of 1.1 billion ruppees. After completion this project would increase water supply capacity to Malir, Malir Halt, Khokhrapar, Moeenabad, Memon Goth and adjoining areas. Earlier, reports were received that Armed Goons stopped KW and SB employees and contractor from working within the Maro Goth.

M.D KW and SB has informed concerned officials and S.S.P Rao Anwar on the phone. He demanded protection for KW and SB staff, contractors and labour working in that area so that the pipe line could be laid on time. If the pipe line is not laid soon, Malir and adjoining areas would face severe water shortage and scarcity of water. This may lead to law and order situation as well.
