Mari Petroleum Company Limited Achieves Success with Second Horizontal Well in Mari Gas Field

Karachi, Mari Petroleum Company Limited (MPCL) has achieved a significant milestone with the successful drilling and testing of a second horizontal development well, Mari 123H, in the Habib Rahi Limestone (HRL) Reservoir of the Mari Gas Field in Daharki, Sindh Province.

The well was drilled to a total measured depth of 1,846 meters, featuring an impressive horizontal section length of approximately 900 meters. Following an acid stimulation job, the well underwent testing, delivering a remarkable rate of approximately 20 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD) of gas at a flowing wellhead pressure of 318 psig. With the successful testing, the well has been put on production immediately.

MPCL, as the Operator of Mari Gas Field, holds a 100% working interest in the project. The company is now actively evaluating opportunities to drill additional horizontal wells, aiming to enhance delivery pressure management while sustaining the current production rates from the HRL Reservoir. This achievement further solidifies MPCL’s position as a key player in the energy sector, contributing to Pakistan’s energy security and economic growth.
