MG Pakistan and JW SEZ Launch SGMW Binguo EV: An Electric Addition to Pakistani Roads

Lahore: MG Pakistan, in partnership with JW SEZ, announced the release of the SGMW Binguo EV, a B-segment hatchback developed by SAIC-GM-Wuling (SGMW). Priced at Rs. 5,999,000, the vehicle is now open for booking with an advance payment of Rs. 1.2 million. Deliveries are expected to start by the first quarter of 2026.

The Binguo EV was showcased at PAPS and selected dealerships across the country to assess market interest and consumer feedback. This initiative aligns with Pakistan’s New Energy Vehicles Policy 2025-2030, which targets 30% new EV sales by 2030, increasing to 90% by 2040. The policy is supported through fiscal incentives, infrastructure development, and local manufacturing initiatives.

An MG Pakistan spokesperson stated that the Binguo EV, termed “The Electric Icon,” aims to make electric mobility accessible in Pakistan. The introduction of this international model seeks to understand customer expectations and adapt future EV offerings to suit urban drivers and the nation’s changing mobility landscape.

A representative from JW SEZ highlighted the significance of international collaborations in supporting Pakistan’s EV policy goals. The local availability of the Binguo EV is seen as a contribution to reducing fossil fuel reliance, cutting emissions, and promoting the shift to sustainable transportation.

The Binguo EV, a popular hatchback internationally, is set to expand the hatchback segment in Pakistan, offering an electric choice for urban buyers. The vehicle features LED headlamps with X-shaped daytime running lights, distinctive body lines, and a duck-tail rear design, with dual-tone paint options available.

Inside, the Binguo EV offers dual 10.25-inch displays, a centre console, and an extended wheelbase for enhanced interior space. The equipment includes synthetic-leather upholstery, a 6-way power driver’s seat, a multifunction steering wheel, and various storage solutions. Powered by a 31.9 kWh battery pack, the EV provides up to 333 km of CLTC-rated range, with both standard AC home charging and DC fast charging options available.

Standard safety features include SRS airbags, Electronic Stability Control, a Tire Pressure Monitoring System, cruise control, rear parking sensors, and a rear-view camera. The introduction of the Binguo EV signifies progress in expanding Pakistan’s electric mobility options, offering a new choice for buyers looking for value and sustainability.
