Minister Emphasizes Academic and Ideological Focus at Seerat Center Lahore

Islamabad: Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives, Ahsan Iqbal, led a review meeting on the Seerat Center Lahore project, concentrating on its operational and governance framework. The Minister highlighted that the establishment of Seerat Chairs in public universities is designed to provide future generations with modern education while incorporating intellectual teachings inspired by the Seerat-un-Nabi (PBUH).

According to a statement by Press Information Department, the initiative includes three primary components: establishing nine Seerat Chairs in public universities, launching a center for gender studies and women’s rights, and creating an endowment fund to support academic activities. Research will focus on themes derived from the life of the Holy Prophet (PBUH), such as human rights, governance, and social justice.

Minister Iqbal explained that the Women’s Seerat Center Lahore is intended as a Center of Excellence in Gender Studies. It aims to bridge the gap between the younger generation and religion through intellectual engagement. The center will focus on empowering women by showing that Islamic teachings offer guidance for a successful life.

The Women’s Seerat Center will emphasize women’s rights and gender studies from an Islamic perspective. It will ensure that female graduates receive a foundation in Islamic teachings alongside expertise in modern disciplines. Additionally, the center will offer postgraduate studies and research on gender studies, focusing on women’s rights in Islam.

During the meeting, Minister Iqbal instructed authorities to expedite the Seerat Centers’ operationalization, faculty recruitment, and establishment of libraries to support academic research.
