Muslim Leaders Unite in Condemnation of Israeli Actions and Urge Collective Response

Doha: Condemnations from the Muslim world mounted on Monday as Qatar hosted an emergency Arab-Islamic summit in Doha, where state leaders condemned Israel’s strike on Hamas negotiators in Doha.

According to TRTworld.com, the summit witnessed Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani condemning the Israeli attack as “cowardly and treacherous.” He highlighted that the Hamas leaders were in the midst of studying a U.S. ceasefire proposal presented by Qatar and Egypt when the attack occurred.

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el Sisi emphasized the potential risks posed by Israel’s actions, warning that they could undermine existing peace agreements and threaten regional security. Sisi articulated that the consequences of such actions would be dire, potentially leading to a renewed atmosphere of conflict and loss of historic peace-building efforts.

Jordans King Abdullah II called for a decisive regional response to what he described as aggression against Qatar. He underscored the need for a clear and deterrent reaction to Israel’s actions, which he deemed a “blatant act of terrorism.”

Iran’s president also spoke at the summit, stressing the necessity of Islamic unity in response to the situation. He condemned Israel’s attack on Qatar as a transgression of all red lines.

The summit further addressed Israel’s ongoing campaign in Gaza, which has been widely criticized as genocidal. Qatar, acting as a mediator in the conflict, accused Israel of sabotaging peace efforts and practicing “state terrorism.”

Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif condemned Israel’s attack on Doha as an attempt to undermine Middle East peace efforts. He called for the United Nations to suspend Israel and proposed the formation of an Arab-Islamic task force to counter Israel’s “expansionist designs.”

Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim advocated for cutting diplomatic and trade ties with Israel and highlighted the urgent need for support for the Gaza-bound Global Sumud Flotilla. He described the Israeli airstrikes on Doha as reckless and provocative, endangering regional security.

Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov expressed concern over Israel’s airstrikes on Qatar and called for de-escalation in accordance with international law. He emphasized Azerbaijan’s support for Qatar’s sovereignty and praised its mediation efforts in the Gaza crisis.

Bangladesh, through a Foreign Ministry statement, described the Israeli attack as an affront to the dignity of the entire Muslim community. The statement called for coordinated actions by OIC member states to deter further Israeli aggression.

Indonesian Foreign Minister Sugiono stressed that the Palestinian issue is central to the survival and dignity of nations. He advocated for collective condemnation against Israel and urged the UN Security Council to take firm measures to ensure accountability.

The summit concluded with a call for unity among Muslim nations in addressing the challenges posed by Israel’s actions and a reaffirmation of the commitment to support Palestine’s right to statehood.
