Mustafa Kamal Urges Integrated Strategy for Polio Eradication in Pakistan

Karachi: Mustafa Kamal, the Minister for Health Services, has called for a more integrated strategy to achieve a polio-free Pakistan. This statement was made during his visit to the Emergency Operation Center for Polio in Karachi on Sunday.

According to Radio Pakistan, the Minister emphasized that the complete eradication of the polio virus is a national priority. He reassured that the federal government would extend all possible support to the provinces in this endeavor. The Minister acknowledged the efforts of health workers and the district administration in the national polio eradication campaign.

Mustafa Kamal expressed concern over the fact that four out of the six polio cases reported this year have originated from Sindh. This highlights the need for enhanced efforts and strategies in the region to combat the virus effectively.

Earlier in the visit, Irshad Ali Sodhar, the Provincial Coordinator of the Emergency Operation Center for Polio, briefed the Minister on the ongoing vaccination campaigns and the challenges faced by the polio teams and workers in the field.
